Top-100 Greatest Public Course

One of the more well-known courses, Mauna Kea is a quintessential test of golf on the Big Island’s Kohala Coast. Ocean views from almost every hole, and a Southwest-facing coastline give golfers a spectacular evening light to finish an afternoon round. It is a true resort style course, and it is meant to be enjoyed by golfers of all skill levels. Mauna Kea is a leader on the Big Island in terms of environmental impact awareness. Ownership and management have installed a cutting edge irrigation system, special liners in the bunkers and upgraded the course drainage to improve the overall condition of the course while saving precious natural resources.

Reviews

Fantastic facility, amazing golf course, incredible service. They treat you like a member!
WARNING: This is NOT a resort type golf course. The course is very difficult with tough Bermuda ruff. The greens are generally surrounded by sand traps and are very firm and fast. We played on a Thursday and the pin positions were tucked to the edges and the greens were very hard to read (3 putt city). The course and greens were in excellent condition. Unless you are a single digit handicapper your score is going much higher than usual.
Great layout with several picturesque holes. Definitely a must play on the Big Island.
